An upscale alternative within walking distance of The Village, this venerable establisment has helped set the standard for fine dining in Mammoth for many years. The menu draws from a variety of classy ethnic inspirations, and is served in two courses, followed by dessert. First course delights include tuna tartare or a daily soup selection. Second round favorites are the roasted elk loin or the Osso Bucco, a braised veal shank with Madiera, served with herbs and vegetables. Dessert classics like vanilla cream brulee, chocolate tiramisu and Jack Daniel chocolate-chocolate chip ice cream are sure to send you home happy. Each selection hits the mark, but you’re going to pay for it. As a suggestion, try the three-course prix fixe. At $40 for the evening (excluding wine and cocktails), this may your best option. Nevados also has a mellow bar that caters to the over-30 crowd, which is often bustling into the late hours of the night.
