Who is Bump Diamond?
He's elusive, everyone knows that much. And we found one of his Vons lists recently. It had rice noodles, pad thai sauce, miso soup, bagged salad and Mammoth Brewing Co.'s Double Nut Brown.

A Freebie At Mono Lake, Schulman Grove

September 21, 2005

If there is anybody out there who has not visited the Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest because of something so inconsequential as fees, Saturday is the day you can bust on in to the Schulman Grove for free.
Same thing with the South Tufa Area at Mono Lake.
Both are "fee areas" in the Inyo National Forest, but the USFS is waiving many fees Saturday in celebration of National Public Lands Day.
Other fee areas, such as Reds Meadow, are not free on this day and will charge people the usual fees.
Still and all, this is something, and Jeff Bailey, superintendent of the Inyo, laid a decent comment on the public, saying in a press release,
"We're encouraging people to get outdoors and enjoy their National Forests,” said Inyo National Forest Supervisor Jeff Bailey. “Our local public lands provide abundant recreational opportunities for people who like to walk, hike, horseback ride, view wildlife, photograph nature, or enjoy a variety of other outdoor activities. They are great places to play."
