The Beer, Wine And Booze Have Moved
August 28, 2005

Man About Town
Very disorienting stuff happening at Vons all week, but nothing like Friday and Saturday, when they moved the beer and the booze. This is all about the 10-week re-model of our only grocery story, doncha know.
Used to be, before this week, that the beer and the booze, Mammoth's favorite foods, were stashed back in a corner, almost in a kind of embarassing way, over there by the bagged salads. Big traffic jams, frayed nerves, carts getting the Demolition Derby treatment by the Sapporo.
Now, Aisle 6 is the Get Zonked aisle, with lotsa room. The wine and booze are on one side and the beer on the other—a whole aisle, my friends.
This is dangerously close to grocery store configurations in the rest of the United States, and you know what happens out there, God forbid it happen here. Still, the Red Eyes seemed to be enjoying themselves this evening, once they found Valhalla.
Significantly, the frozen and refrigerated organic foods are still nowhere to be found.
Thank God they didn't just wipe out the beer and the booze like they did the frozen and refrigerated organics. Mammoth would have had the DTs.
