June 29 for Reds Meadow
June 18, 2005

Man About Town
It ain’t just Tioga Pass that we’re pondering.
The road to Reds Meadow looked to be packed in with snow as late as this afternoon. Looking up from the Main Lodge, it’s just one big nightmare, except for people who think maybe Reds and Agnew, etc. could use the rest.
At any rate, Nancy Upham of the U.S. Forest Service announced yesterday that June 29 will be the opening day.
At Mammoth Mountain this afternoon, any right-thinking person would have been amazed to think that this road will open at all. Man, there’s still a lot of snow up there. -------->
Upham, however, said in a press release that the USFS will “work with the Town of Mammoth Lakes, Mammoth Mountain Ski Area and CALTRANS to get the road open and repairs made before opening to the public.”
Meanwhile, the fee structure remains more or less the same as last year, Upham said, with the price of Reds Meadow day passes staying at $7 for adults and $4 for kids ages 3-15. Season passes stay at $35 for adults and $20 for kids.
If you’re wondering where the money goes, Upham said 95 percent of the funds collected throughout the entire season from the Reds Meadow Fee Collection Project will remain locally to pay for the shuttle bus contract.
