Wednesday, 12 December 2007 Online tributes continue to pour into the Mammoth forums Web site for Dave Ebben, a beloved skier from Encinitas who died of injuries suffered while he was skiing in West Bowl on Monday, Dec. 10.
Ebben, 48, was found unconscious in West Bowl in the early afternoon, according to Mammoth Mountain Ski Area officials. He was subsequently taken to Washoe Medical Center in Reno, where he passed away. Apparently, he hit his head on a rock while descending the slope.
Hundreds of posts to the Forum have been made during the week for Ebben, nicknamed "Carnivore," an accomplished photographer and skier. Many pictures have been posted.
Meanwhile, an effort to re-name West Bowl to Ebben Bowl or Carnivore Bowl is underway.
