Another earthquake struck a mountainous area near Red Slate Mountain early Tuesday morning, this one measuring 3.0 on the Richter Scale.
The quake, which followed a summer in which numerous small earthquakes have struck the spot, was centered at the southeast base of Red Slate Mountain, 12 miles southeast of Mammoth and 10 miles west southwest of Tom's Place. It stuck at 4:44 a.m.
No damages or injuries were reported in the quake, which struck 5.7 miles below ground, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
Seven other quakes, each measuring much less than Tuesday's rocker, have occurred in the area in just the past week, but all have been in the same spot. The quake is near Bright Dot Lake.
