This beautiful restaurant/inn is situated in a grove of aspen 15 minutes south of Mammoth. It's is a voyage back to a time when large-scale hotels and flashy coffee shops weren't known to most Eastern Sierra locals. This is real mountain flavor near the location Dave McCoy installed his first rope tow so many years ago. The food ain't bad either. The wide-ranging menu includes Italian, American and, oddly enough, Cajun. Crawfish over rice, catfish with creole sauce and gumbo soup hit the spot like no other Mammoth restaurant can. Also, at $5.95, the TJ burger is a deal and the New York steak, with rice pilaf and a baked potato make for a great dinner on the trip south after a long weekend of skiing.
