Mammoth's original sushi joint/top-notch Japanese restaurant is about to move to Bishop, so get in while you can. It's worth it. With a relatively large selection of rolls and cut pieces of nigiri sushi, this is as fresh as you're going to find in the Eastern Sierra. The best deal is the "Boat Dinner.” For a minimum of two people, this huge platter costs about $25 and come with a variety of chicken dishes, beef dishes, tempura vegetables, ahi sashimi slices, miso soup, green tea and an excellent ice cream desert. If it sounds like a lot of food, it is, and usually is a good bet for some extremely edible leftovers. If strictly sushi is what you want, sushi is what you will get. They have over 30 types of rolls, from typical California Rolls, to Caterpillar and Spicy rolls, and a large selection of cut sushi like yellowtail, tuna and octopus. Shogun is a real locals' favorite, but is also popular among tourists, so during busy seasons, make reservations.
