Sherwin's is another new addition to Mammoth's pub and grub scene, and has thus far proved to wow revelers with live music and a terrific. bar, while the food has received at least satisfactory reviews. The location is one of the main draws to this ranch-style restaurant, as it sits near the base of the Sherwins. The food, named after local landmarks, is priced very competitively and is served in healthy portions. Worth mentioning are the Booner, a provolone cheese burger with grilled onions, bell peppers and homemade BBQ sauce, and the Telemark, a grilled eggplant topped with onions, peppers and melted cheese. While the food is good, the recreation (and recreational drinking) are better. During warmer months, Sherwin's can arrange authentic hayrides (the restaurant really is part of a working ranch) and hosts occasional horseshoe tournaments. In addition, it would be hard to argue that any local venue has topped the nightly entertainment at this bustling, live music hot-spot. Throughout the year, the state's hottest reggae, funk and jam bands make stops here on their way across the Sierra. Very few other local establishments can make this claim.
