For your traditional eat-in-house pizza experience, Giovanni's is number one in Mammoth. In fact, some might argue that Giovanni's has the best pizza on this side of the Sierra, period. Favorites are the Gio's (Pesto, artichoke, tomato and feta cheese), and the BBQ Chicken (Chicken, bell pepper, mushroom, red onion and BBQ sauce). The real star at Giovanni's, though, is the lunch special. Offered Mon.-Sat. until 4 p.m., this $7.25 steal gets you a heaping plate of salad and a small two-item pizza, which really isn't small at all. This is a great reward after a long hike or a long day of skiing, and it usually results in some leftover pizza, which can never hurt.
