Based strictly on views, Eagle's Landing in June Lake ranks near the top in the Eastern Sierra. Resting under the 10,000-foot Carson Peak, the interior is exquisite and the vistas are mind-boggling. On a warm, summer afternoon, lunch in the “Sierran Alps” is hard to beat. The food, on the other hand, has received a variety of responses. Lunch, thus far, has proved to be the highlight of Eagle's Landing. The Alpers' smoked trout club sandwich is original and inviting, as are the prime rib steak wrap and cobb salad. The dinner entrees have been classified as overly-sweet, while being praised for their nutritional value and sheer selection. Offerings like the chipotle chicken pasta and macadamia crusted halibut, when done well, are excellent.
