Theater Group Plans Fundraiser
by Mammoth Local Staff

The newly-formed Mammoth Lakes Theatre Company on Thursday, Jan. 25 announced its first fund-raiser event — a $100-a-plate Valentine's Day dinner at Eagle Lodge featuring entertainer Wayland Pickard.

It is the first fund-raiser for the group.

"I’m thrilled to finally be back in Mammoth Lakes and launching our fundraising efforts," said Shira Dubrovner, the group's artistic director.

"Once we begin refurbishment of the old Plaza Theatre into the home of the Mammoth Lakes Theatre Company, Mammoth Lakes can look forward to a growing schedule of entertainment designed to support the arts and the community."

The inaugural event is titled "Legends and Love Songs" and features Pickard, the 2006 ADA Award winning "Best Actor in a Musical.

Dubrovner said Pickard will perform an evening of his award-winning piano virtuoso playing in the styles of Liberace, Billy Joel, Elton John and others.

The event begins at 7 p.m. with no-host cocktails, followed by a buffet dinner and the show.

Ticket prices range from $100 per person at an open-seating table of eight, to $800 for a couple at their own private table and champagne, to $1200 for a full table of eight that includes champagne and a gift.

Dubrovner promised no additional fundraising efforts during the evening, saying, “I want people to enjoy themselves and be entertained while contributing to a worthy non-profit cause. On Valentine’s Day, the price of entry is the fundraising effort.”
