The Fiddlin' Foresters, the official "old-time string band of the US Forest Service" will make a visit to the Eastern Sierra in honor of the Centennial of the Inyo National Forest.
Singing songs of conservation and stewardship of our public lands, as well as some old-time traditional music and songs of the American West, the band will present free concerts in Bishop and in Mammoth.
The Fiddlin’ Foresters are Forest Service employees and volunteers from the Rocky Mountains. Since 1994 they have performed hundreds of interpretive musical programs throughout the country, including performances at state fairs, the 2002 Winter Olympics, and other international events and conferences.
Their music is lively and entertaining and celebrates the inspiration of America’s great outdoors. Their performances inspire a connection to the land and our natural resources.
The first Fiddlin’ Forester concert will be on the first day of summer, Thursday June 21, starting at 6:30 p.m. in the Bishop City Park. Co-sponsored by Inyo Council for the Arts, the City of Bishop and the Inyo National Forest, everyone is invited to bring a picnic dinner and join the Fiddlin’ Foresters (and possibly some other local musicians too) for a fun evening of bringing in the summer in style.
This event will be held in the middle of the city park between the pool and the skate park.
The second concert will be on Friday June 22, starting at 2:00 p.m. on the lawn outside the new Mammoth Welcome Center. This event is co-sponsored by the Inyo National Forest and the Town of Mammoth Lakes, and will continue the morning celebration of the Grand Opening of the new Welcome Center.
The Fiddlin’ Foresters will also appear at the Grand Opening celebrations of the new Mammoth Welcome Center and the new InterAgency Visitor Center in Lone Pine, and at a Forest Service Retiree Reunion, all taking place the week of June 18.
