Shoots. Kills. Seasons.
November 25, 2006
It's a holiday tradition around our neighbors' camp that they gather up the dogs, grab their shotguns and tramp out into the fields and marshes to gather their feasts the old-fashioned way.
Although this year, they are thinking about giving way to new technology in the form of a new kind of buckshot.
No more steel pellets for them, no sir. They're going for "Season Shot," which advertises itself as "The Ammo With Flavor."
I can't make this up. According to the outfit's Web site, "Season Shot is made of tightly packed seasoning bound by a fully biodegradable food product.
"The seasoning is actually injected into the bird on impact, seasoning the meat from the inside out. When the bird is cooked, the seasoning pellets melt into the meat spreading the flavor to the entire bird.
"Forget worrying about shot breaking your teeth and start wondering about which flavor shot to use!"
The flavors are Cajun, lemon pepper, garlic, teriyaki and honey mustard.
Ain't America something?
