Snow Is In The Forecast
September 8, 2005

The National Weather Service has put the "S" word into its weekend weather advisories, suggesting the Sierra Nevada could get snow above 8,000 feet.
That would put the snow line right about at Whiskey Creek. Or, put another way, it would put the snowline at my driveway. Yow! Pull out the boards!
Officially, the statement from the weather service called for "scattered rain showers and isolated thunderstorms ... this weekend, mainly north of U.S. Hwy. 50 ... with possible snow showers in the Sierra above 8,000 feet by Saturday evening."
Temperatures in Mammoth, meanwhile, were project to drop to freezing on Friday night and to 30 degrees on Saturday. The highs for both Friday and Saturday are expected to go no higher than 66.
