"The Sheet" Drops Midweek Editions

    "The Sheet," a bold experiment in daily journalism in Mammoth, has been scaled back into a weekly newspaper, according to publlisher Ted Carleton.
    "I could wax further about economies of scale and printing costs and increasing child care responsibilities," Carleton wrote in an editorial in Saturday's edition, "but really, I think it's about making sure  I have more free time to watch the Red Sox stretch drive and tweak my fantasy football roster." Going into Tuesday's games, the Red Sox were 73-53, 2.5 games ahead of the New York Yankees in the American Leage East.
    Begun two years ago as "Mammoth's Daily News," the one-sheet "Sheet" publication scaled back to a haphazard publication schedule of Tuesday-Thursday-Saturday, although it frequently missed its deadlines, or published on an occasional Wednesday or Friday or not at all.
    The cutback of "The Sheet" is another twist in an interesting media week in Mammoth.
    Last week, the Mammoth Times, also known as the Christian Real Estate Times and the Mammoth Free Firestarter, named a new editor, placing the announcement on the front page, but on a picture of a sea gull.
    Many people continue to believe that the Times now has a sea gull as an editor, and are looking for immediate improvements in the paper as a result.
