Felici Trio Names New Pianist
August 26, 2005
The Felici Trio named Wen-Ting Huang as its new pianist, the Trio said in a news release today.
Wen-Ting, who won the National Excellence Award for Young Artistic Talents in Taiwan when she was 15, replaces Paullina Zamora, who recently accepted a job at the Escuela Moderna in Santiago, Chile.
Wen-Ting was selected from among 40 applicants for the in-residence position. The Felici Trio is associated with the Mammoth nonprofit organization, Chamber Music Unbound.
Wen-Ting's musical journey began in Taiwan, then wended from University for Music and Performing Arts in Vienna through Ecole Normale de Musique in Paris to Indiana University in Bloomington.
She was the recipient of honors and scholarships of the Ministry of Education of Taiwan, the Austrian Ministry of Science and Research, the Artists Association in Paris and Indiana University.
As an active solo and collaborative artist, she has performed in Austria, France, U.S. and Taiwan. With the Moirae Trio, she entered the Fischoff Chamber Music competition and Concert Artists Guild International Competition, and received Third Prize and the Audience Choice Award at the Chesapeake Chamber Music Competition in 2004.
This summer, Wen-Ting completed her doctoral degree at Indiana University.
The public will have a chance to meet Wen-Ting on Tuesday, September 6, 3:00 - 4:00 p.m. in the Piano Lab at Cerro Coso College in Mammoth
