How often, statistically speaking, do you suppose that the weekend visitor occupancy rate is exactly the same as the projected weekday occpancy rate?
I'm saying it happens precisely once in a blue moon. It happens once in about a month of Sundays. And what we have here in Mammoth is both—a statistical convergence that brings us to Laurie Medov, who keeps track of such things for the town's Tourism and Recreation department:
Friday night 7/08/05 - Saturday night 7/09/05 = 41%
Sunday night 7/10/05 - Thursday night 7/14/05 = 41%
As for next weekend, what with Jazz Jubilee in town, Medov projects the occupancy at a robust 65 percent.
